Members, Today the Missouri Legislature passed HB495 returning the SLMPD to a Governor appointed Board of Police Commissioners.   We anticipate the Governor will sign the bill into law in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned for more details.
Social Security Fairness Act Q&A & Update

The Social Security Fairness Act represents a significant step forward in addressing long-standing inequities in the Social Security system. This legislation repeals two unfair provisions in the Social Security Code, the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), which have disproportionately impacted public safety officers and other government employees.

Last year, the Pennsylvania General Assembly enacted new policing legislation now known as Act 59 and Act 57.  MPOETC was charged with creating regulations to implement these acts effective July 14, 2021. Below is a brief summary of these acts and their accompanying regulations.

Steve Butz Senate Campaign Kickoff

Officer Travis Brown of the Ferguson Police Department (former St. Louis County Police Officer) was assaulted last night at a protest in Ferguson. Officer Brown has not woken up since the assault and had brain surgery last night. Unfortunately the assault had not been reported by the press.

Sick Leave Benefits for Care of Relatives

January 1st 2024, MN State Legislature changed the amount of time for employees to stay with members of their immediate family. The hours have gone from 160 to 80 (ESST).  Sick Leave Benefits for Care of Relatives. Employees may use paid sick leave for absences due to an illness of or injury to a member of their immediate family, as defined in A1ticle 27.
County PA Agreement Reached

SLPOA is happy to announce that we have successfully negotiated a contract for our members in the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.  This agreement covers Attorney I, Attorney II, Attorney III, Investigators, and the Assistant Chief Investigator.  An online vote was held last week which resulted in a unanimous ratification of the contract.
