    Congratulations go out to the DFD's newest Deputy Fire Marshal Heather Anderson.  DFM Anderson was promoted from B Group Fire Lieutenant to the position of Deputy Fire Marshal in a ceremony at City Hall's Council Chambers on November 13, 2018.  DFM Anderson is a 19 year veteran of the DFD.

    Congratulations go out to the DFD's newest Fire Captain, Eric Handau.  Captain Handau was promoted in a ceremony in City Hall's Council Chambers on November 13, 2018.  Captain Handau was promoted from his previous position of Deputy Fire Marshal.  Captain Handau is a 25 year veteran and former Local 801 E-Board representative, who will now serve as Fire Captain on B Group.

    On the afternoon of Saturday, November 17th, Local members responded to a traffic accident at Peoria Street and Caley Avenue in Centennial. After 2 cars collided in the intersection one of them left the roadway and came to rest on a metal fence, teetering above a storm water pond.

    At 5:19 a.m. on Saturday, November 17th, Local members responded to an apartment fire at 5829 South Datura Street. Littleton Police Officers were first to arrive on scene at the 6-story senior housing building and immediately began assisting and rescuing residents.

    At 7:42 p.m. on Friday, November 16th, Local members and several mutual aid partners battled a fully engulfed house fire on Cora Street in Kellytown, located near Highway 85 and Louvires Avenue. First arriving Engine 40 observed flames coming all the doors and windows and began fire suppression.

    At 1:44 p.m. on Thursday, November 15th, Members responded to numerous 911 reports of a traffic collision involving a rollover with entrapment at Lincoln Avenue and Park Meadows Drive in Lone Tree. The scene was spread out across the intersection and involved 4 vehicles, one of which was on its roof with a person trapped inside.

    Last night, the City of Verona issued a press release that detailed a multi-point implementation plan to address Local 311’s complaints and the condemning report by the Riseling Group. The City claims to have “acted” on this plan on October 10, 2018. Local 311 takes exception with this claim.

    Independent investigation reveals gross mismanagement of the City of Verona Fire Department under Chief Joseph Giver

    After receiving reports of inappropriate behavior, harassment, and hostile work environment by a member of the City of Verona Fire Department command staff, Fire Fighters Local 311, who represents the full-time City of Verona fire fighters, requested the city conduct an independent investigation into these allegations. The City of Verona leadership, in a good-faith response to the union’s concerns, hired The Riseling Group to conduct the neutral-party investigation into the allegations. The City also asked the Riseling Group to examine the workplace culture in the Verona Fire Department.

    At 8:48 p.m. on Sunday November 4th, Local 2164 members responded to a semi accident on the northbound off-ramp from I-25 to Belleview Avenue in Greenwood Village. The semi struck a highway barrier resulting in a violent crash that ejected the motor and destroyed the truck. Miraculously the driver safely exited the cab uninjured and no other vehicles were involved.
