04/03/20 - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 21
After courageously battling his illness, we are deeply saddened and mourn the loss of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 Chief Steward, our Brother Michael Andel. After hearing of our Brother’s passing, Local 21 President - Business Manager Paul Wright said, “Mike was a friend and a loyal, trusted, and passionate fighter for all of us in Local 21. He became a Union Steward at the age of 23 and I was proud to appoint Mike as a Chief Steward. Mike rose to the occasion and always carried that same passion and energy while doing his job despite his personal battle right on through the last few weeks of his life.” Our thoughts and prayers are with our Brother's family, friends and coworkers. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date

City of Chicago OEMC Vacations Canceled
03/30/20 - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 21
March 30, 2020 11:00 AM - Representatives of IBEW Local 21 were notified that because of the unpredicted number of absences due to the effects of COVID-19, FMLA leaves and other reasons the City cannot grant PCOs vacations. This decision will affect PCOs with the following furloughs: Segment 4B, Full 5, and Segment 5A. Representatives from the City will contact employees if the cancelations need to go beyond 5A. It is anticipated that staffing numbers will continue to decrease and the City stated that they must take this measure to continue to provide essential 911 services to the residents of Chicago. If staffing numbers improve the City stated that they will reconsider their decision. Remember that all of us who count on you appreciate all of your hard work during this crisis.
